Frequently Asked Questions about WellChoice's New ID Card Initiative
Q: My co-worker received a new ID Card. Will I receive a new card?
A: A new card will only be issued when:
A new member is enrolled in a health plan
- An existing member has a change in name or family status (such as marriage or birth)
- A member requests a new ID card (via the web or by telephone call)
- A group has a benefit change that requires a new ID card
When a new card is issued, the card will be produced and mailed to the member within five to seven business days.
Q: I recently requested a replacement ID card and I just received a card with a different design. Have my benefits changed?
A: No, your benefits have not changed. Only the look has changed and it will feel a bit thinner.
Q: Is there anything I (a member) need to do?
A: While your benefits remain the same, please show your new ID card to your providers so they can make a copy of it for their records. That way they will have your most recent card on file.
Q: What is different about these new cards?
- Product names appear on the card instead of the product icon.
- Minor product lines (dental, vision, etc) are typed out instead of appearing as icons.
